What I learned about Ecstatic Following…..

Posted on Nov 28, 2009

For quite awhile, I’ve been knowing that I had a lot to learn about Ecstatic Following, which is one of InterPlay’s Eight Body Wisdom Tools. Like, when someone excitedly shares their idea with me, I may have a better one, and be oh-so-happy to tell them how they should do it better.
This ‘Following deficiency’ has not, how would you say...brought me the most joy in my life! So, why not teach what I need to learn, at the Wednesday night Playgroups?
At each of the recent Ecstatic Following & Leadership classes, I got to mess around with familiar and new-for-me ways of following. I saw how thoughts like, “My way is best,” keep me from just having fun.
What I played with in the classes, is being lived out: The day after the second class, Lauralee and Maria and I planned the upcoming Easy Focus series. Man, how exciting and fun that was! Instead of slipping into dissatisfaction and even bossiness, I was ecstatically following and easily leading. We laughed a lot. Ideas popped up and found ways to be incorporated. It’s like we found a joint, collaborative state of flow. Now, this Thanksgiving with my family I’m seeing how Easy Focus is living through me organically. Wheeeee! The simple enjoyment of what each person in my family brings, with no desire to get them to be different. Love the Ecstatic Following and Easy FocusThanks, InterPlay!  By Meg MacLeod, InterPlay Leader
